Reprezent - A New Era

For over two decades, Reprezent has provided free access to broadcast training and real-world opportunity. We're incredibly proud of that.

We are now expanding from a station with limited funded places into a wider creative training ecosystem, opening up clearer and more accessible routes into radio, media and creative work.

As part of this shift, we are introducing affordable subsidised pathways alongside our usual free scholarships.

Why?

Because the quality experience at Reprezent isn't cheap -

Professional studios, industry tutors, extensive 1-2-1 mentoring and structured progression pathway.

All in, it costs £3,000+ per person.

With funding tighter than ever and 1'000's of people on the waiting list, staying completely free for everyone would mean most people simply never get a place.

So we’re evolving the model:

Introducing subsidised places (a community-subsidised approach). Those who are able to contribute, help fund the system - protecting free places for those that truly need them.

The aim is simple:

- Let more people start sooner

- Offer more free places than previous years

- Protect access for those who need it most.

- Give people clear start dates instead of endless waiting lists.

This new model launched in January and the response has been huge. Our first course filled in less than 24 hours!

However you join - subsidised or scholarship - the goal is the same:

Reprezent Media Training

Train inside one of the UK’s most influential youth radio stations.

This isn’t classroom theory.

It’s immersive training inside a working FM radio station, designed to take you from curiosity to real experience in weeks.

You’ll learn how to:

• Find your voice and the confidence to use it
• Present, interview and develop strong editorial ideas
• Create radio, podcast and audio content
• Use professional broadcast studios and production tools
• Build a portfolio and present yourself professionally

The training is practical, fast-paced and industry-focused, giving you the experience most people spend years trying to get.

For those ready to go further, training can open the door to Reprezent volunteering opportunities, including shows, production roles and industry networks.

Refund within 14 days (minus 3.5% admin fee).
After 14 days: non-refundable, but you can reschedule

FAQs

Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to develop real radio, podcasting, presenting and content-creation skills — whether you’re a complete beginner or already creating.

Do I need experience?
No. Most people start with little or no studio experience. The programme is designed to build confidence and skills from the ground up.

How do I know if this is the right level for me?
Choose the cohort that suits your schedule. We assess everyone early on and will support you at the right pace. Many people are more capable than they think.

Why is this age-restricted (18–29)?
Our subsidised training is funded by grants, and the funders set the eligibility criteria. At the moment, they require that places go to people aged 18–29.

We know this may be disappointing. The funded range used to be 18–25, and we secured an extension to 18–29 so more people could access opportunities. We continue to advocate for wider access when future funding allows.

What will I learn?
Radio & podcast production, presenting, interviewing, editorial skills, studio practice, creative development, and content creation — all hands-on inside a working FM station.

Where does training take place?
All sessions run at Reprezent’s studios in Elephant & Castle.

When does it run?
Sessions run 1 evening per week, weekday 18:30–20:30. You’ll confirm which weekday works for you after booking, and we’ll place you in the earliest cohort that fits your availability.

Will I get on-air experience?
Yes, through structured volunteering pathways after training. On-air or production roles depend on readiness, commitment and standard, not automatic placement.

Do you guarantee industry opportunities?
No guarantees — but you’ll have access to mentoring, festivals, events, industry introductions and a clear pathway into Reprezent.

Do I need any equipment?
No. Everything you need is provided. If you want to create at home, we’ll guide you on low-cost, beginner-friendly options.
